You would have thought this man was al-CIA-da… These Pirate revenue generators were out on Sunday Nov 8th 2009 making cash for the state and their masters. I wonder if we could lobby the city council to STOP any more increases in funding for the Phoenix Police Department. This is an utter complete waste of taxpayer funds. This was a training exercise and this was a rookie cops first ticket. The officers supervisor is Sergeant Coutts and Coutts was actually there watching and participating in the whole episode of harassment and extortion. The Officer who wrote the tickets J.Schlender and his supervisor Sergeant Coutts should be expelled from the force. These two pirates single handily made a mockery of the rest of the force. What the hell were these two thinking? The rookie cop may claim ignorance but the Sergeant was there and went along with this charade knowing it was nothing but harassment and intimidation. A load of pirate revenue generators for the state including 7 ships…errrrrr I mean squad cars and about 17 cops was used to detain a man on an electric bike…WTF …
Be it a bicycle or an electric bicycle. The cops is right. You NEED to obey all traffic laws when riding it. That being said…7 cop cars for a guy on a bicycle? Gotta be a small town right? Nothing better to do?

I would suggest that in such circumstances all that needs to be done is stop you. Officer says what they think you’ve done wrong. Ask if there was a special reason for it. Officer then decides to issue tickets or not. If tickets issued then the Officer gets enough information to write them up, detainment ends at that moment, as the officer can post the tickets. If they need to check the law, they can do that in their own time. My 5cents.

@johndp30 unfortnately i’m in florida wish i could’ve help rp4409 out in that situtation.I’m a highway patrol officer btw and her in florida we honor the constitution and the rights of the people unfortnately it seems most local police departments and sheriff’s are corrupt to a sickening extent.Me and other officers are unsure what’s going to happening in the future honestly look at everything happening.though i’ll admit some officers in my department are pricks.

Actually the bike rider sounds like a real dickhead and just because he was going to church doesn’t mean he wasn’t doing something wrong. Electric does not mean it isn’t a motorized vehicle – there are electric motorcycles that go faster than gas powered ones.and this guy’s bike is probably classified as a moped or small scooter. I’m sure no one would dispute that an electric car is still a motorized car. AL:L motorized vehicles are subject to traffic laws and registration in most places.

TIP: If you have a iPhone or Droid you can buy a app called QIK so you can record the police and the video uploads straight to YouTube and your web page that only you can open. So if the police take your phone they cannot destroy or erase evidence. By the way your allowed to record the police without telling them. Peace people
