I’m interested in getting into the sport of mountain biking but I don’t have the most athletic figure ( 5′ 10″, 275lbs). I was wondering if any manufactures made specific bikes for people of my stature and if so how much cash would i be looking at spending.
Take a look at the Kona Hoss, they run about $ 800

Kona makes the “HOSS” these bikes are intended for big guys as the name implies.
Check ‘em out.

But dude, you will need to see a good bike dealer before you start, mountain bikes have so many classes cross country down hill hard tails full sussers, etc. read some magazines or watch some videos on you tube. ask at your local bike park before you fork out any money.Oh yeah remember to support your local bike shop, they need you. sorry can’t answer the money question.
I’m almost 300 lbs I when started MTbiking, I’m using a Fuji 29er Comp this will fit you and the handling is just great. Check fuji website http://www.fujibikes.com
Sure. First are you planning to do cross country (XC) trail riding or Downhill (DH)? Look at a Large frame Yeti because it’s a beefy bike. This is a high-end bike, but don’t skimp because you want something that can hold up under the stress of the trail and your size. Get a bike with Fox Fork and Suspension with lots of travel (at least 120mm in the front and 5-6″ in the rear) if you’re doing XC, and more travel if you’re going for DH. Good luck. You can see the Yeti I built at http://www.mtbresource.com/YetiBuildHome.html. You need to spend at least $2K in my opinion to get something you can depend on for your fun.
