Im looking in to buying a dirt bike off someone, but the battery went bad so it cant be electrically start. So can the bike be kick started?
sometimes-depends on the bike. usually requires a battery eliminator or battery as such, but not always.
As long as it has an alternator and not a generator or a magneto. An alternator will hold enough of a charge to enegize the coil. A generator or magneto wont. You can also start it by putting it in gear and being pulled or roll down a hill with the clutch engaged then release it once you get up to speed.
It depends on the bike. Some of the newer ones require the battery to start….most of the time you can though. I wouldnt recommend getting towed….thats a great way to wreck, or get high-sided if it doesnt start…..try jumping the battery, or push starting it, or just replace the battery.
depends on the bike– a lot of earlier dirt bikes had alternator flywheel magneto ignitions so simple kick start worked without battery. what year, make , model bike.
