Crested Butte to Aspen Klunker Classic, 1980. Part 2 of 2. See Charley Kelly, Gary Fisher, “Murdoch”, the guy who did the belch for Jaba the Hutt, and other mountain biking notables, along with bikes by Ritchey, Breezer, and Arnold Schwinn & Co. A fine look at the state of the art in mountain bikes 30 years ago. Drpaddle is the guy in the Skid-Lid on the desert camouflage Lowell-Knight Procruiser. This was one fine time of high-altitude partying and pedaling with a bunch of creative, fun, and free people. Creator of this video is unknown.
One of the EPIC mountain bike rides of all time, and one of the most historical, as well…

“POS” is so relative to the times. In this video, I was riding a really cool, nearly cutting edge Lowell-Knight Procruiser. I bought the frame from the guys in Tiburon, matched it with an off-the-shelf cruiser fork — Cook Bros maybe? — and had them sandblasted and painted desert camaflouge along with the rims. It was hot! I bought a Ritchey Mountain Bike a few months later, and I still ride it. It may be primitive even compared to your 02 Trek, but it will never be a POS in my heart.
lol this vid makes me not feel so bad about my 02 trek 820 POS. those people are some troopers.
It is! Especially when much of it has “Big rocks! Biiig rocks!”
15 mile downhill sounds like fun!
