I would suggest Taking in a track day and seeing how fast or slow you are. But if I am reading the question right and you are just starting to race I would say forget it. stick to track days. You are not going to beat the kids even if you were to practise every day for the rest of your life. these kids nowadays started racing at 3 yrs old and are very very quick.
I doubt if anyone but someone local who knows you and wants you to have a shot. will want to throw money at you.
I know this sounds like a put down but its the truth.

Practice, Practice, Practice….. You have to put yourself back on a bike and go to Track Day and dominate the competition and then make a few more races and do really well before sponsors even consider looking at you.
I’m not trying to burst your bubble. but you have a long hard road ahead of you.

Just like Proc says above, you are too old to start racing on a full time basis.

The young riders today are in their single figures, let along there late teens.

I always say to read the bio of Bradley Smith to show what you need to do to start racing.
