This is my home made electric bike. Here you will see me doing 60km/h in first gear, the bike has 16 gears. I am yet to find a length of road long enough and straight enough to really see its full potential. Donor bike was a second hand “Huffy” mountain bike. You may have seen these bikes for sale at Big W or K-mart. Starter motor is off a truck, draws heaps of current and produces massive amounts of torque. Not built for long trips, goes hard and fast and motor gets hot after a while. Battery is an Exide Extra X56D putting out 550 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) Awesome fun GO AND BUILD ONE! By the way the water bottle is a temporary fire extinguisher.
make a video about all the wiring and stuff. and what battery type? and stuff like dat. give us a walk through.

It will be a thing of beauty to put that battery a lot lower to bring down the center of gravity! that will make it a lat safe in the event of a CAT aSSS trophic crash! don’t you think so? never the less you don’t have to think about stinking safety!
ummmm i built better but good job anyway how about hooking up a train horn to get even more attention hehehe and umm lets see…………………….o when ur going down hill turn it off so u reverse the current and charge the battery!!

you should make a bike with a motor on a back wheel so you could have pedals ant motor in one bike;D

has anyone ever posted a vid on u tube of one of these bikes going up a hill? or do you all live in flat places?
I hate to brake it to ya, I highly doubt this is the worlds fastest electric bicycle. The cyclone is probably faster since it uses 2 1000w motors. I also know a guy on here who has traveled 96km/h with a hub e-bike, surely some have done more but this was recorded. Efficient systems meant to handle loads for longer. Starter motors are easy to come across and very affordable. My first was with a big wiper motor which saw its day pretty quickly. lol
concidering it was cheap then it the cheapest e bike i like it

You should make another with a walk through and step by step for everything you will need to know. That would be a great weekend project
Nice video. Have you considered investing in a lithium ion battery (over lead-acid)? Also, regenerative braking would be an interesting feature, for it, as well. You sound “mechanical enough”, to come up with any number of interesting improvements. One thing is certain: the “price was right”, as we say, here in the States.
i think you shouldent go any faster that that with that gear you have cuz most likly a huffy bike gear wont hold any faster that that and the teeth will strip off
