Having bigger 29 inch front wheels( thats called a 29er) allows you to roll over some bigger obstacles in your way, such as tree stumps, rocks dead trees and other stuff alot easier . Go to a local bike store and try one out, they feel real smooth on trails ; )

@eagillum Their are some websites on 29ers that go over it in more detail, but the basics are: better obstacle clearance, less rolling resistance, lower rider center of gravity, more gyroscopic stability.
Disadvantages: not for very short riders, doesn’t accelerate as fast(wheels generally weigh more), wheels are often not as stiff.
The bike in this video(Specialized S-works Stumpjumper) seems to maximize the benefits, and minimize the negitine aspects of 29″ wheels(for $6,100 it better).

what is it about the 29 inch wheel that’s better than the 26 inch? what’s the advantage of having bigger tires?

That first bike is almost fully Specialized. I love their clothing but if you don’t live near a Specialized dealer your screwed.

Yeah man the Enduros are so excellent from Specialized.

  14. andrewsacht says:

If they make an s-works 29er version of the stumpjumper fsr(which they likely will), then that will be my next bike.

  15. andrewsacht says:

All three of those bikes are so enticing. I think if I could only pick two I would go with the Enduro and the 29er. I like the brain feature on the stumpjumper fsr though. If only I had the money…
just imagine what will be on the market a few years from now!

  18. MrGutterbunny says:

silly money and completely unnecessary but i gotta have me an s-works hardtail. Not the 29′er though cause i cant deal with that funky big wheel look…
