cant you just make one up?

    £1 (1 euro) is about 1.7AUD

depends what sort of mountain bike…. a crappy on like £20 and a super good one like £3000 but average for a normal bike between £100 ans £500

Most retailers mark up bikes about 30-35% over dealer cost. This may sound like a lot, but don’t forget that a bike arrives at the store in a box and has to be assembled and adjusted before it can be sold. High end bikes also involve high inventory cost for the store, unless the bike is already sold when it arrives. Many stores also have a demo bike or two so that a customer can at least try the bike out before buying. Added to that, many shops also offer one or more free tuneups after the sale of the bike. Once all the costs are figured in, actual profit per bike is very small, particularly on entry level bikes which are the bulk of all sales.
