What is the difference between different kinds of street bikes?
Hello, I looking to gewt into street bikes and thinking about buying one. The only problem is that I don’t know enough about them to go and buy one. Whats the best way to get good information on what bikes are good and which are great and why. Also whats a good bike to start with?. I heard that you should get a starter bike to get used to riding first? Thanks for the info!
Suzuki and Kawasaki = fast
Honda & all others = slow
but for agood starter bike (esp if your smaller) is a Kawaski Ninja…they make 250’s which are light small and easy to handle…get used to riding that and then you can move your way up in the bike world
that’s all that matters. I have a gsxr 600, I got it lowered last summer…and I love my bike.
Commuter bikes (naked, and 1/2 fairings), Sport Bikes, Super Sports, Dual Sports, Crusiers…
It all depends on your experience and application.
first you need to decide what type of bike you want to ride there are basically 3 types of street bikes there are sport bikes like ninjas and katanas, cruisers like harley davidson and victory as well as goldwings then you have the daul sport which is an enduro for riding street as well as dirt
First off go take the MSF course to learn how to ride. A great starter bike is the Kawasaki 250. They are relatively cheap being about 3k brand new.
Once you get some seat time under your belt, step up to a 600 cc bike. The newer 600 cc bikes should be more power than you will ever use in your situation.
suzuki s40
buell blast
Kawasaki is coming out with an all new EX250 for 2008, probably best starter bike out there. I would look into that if I were you.
The best thing to do is take the MSF safety course. That way you can learn the basics of riding and determin if it’s something that you really want to invest so much money in. Remember, you may buy a cheap bike, but it could cost you several hundred dollars a month in insurance for new riders. The MSF safety course will give you a little discount on insurance as well. Plus the cost of a helmet and the correct riding grear which could cost you another grand after you purchase the bike.
Second, should go to a dealership and talk to one of their salesmen. They will be able to explain everything better to you as well as show you the actual bikes. There are so many styles and sizes its hard to get it all on here. Also, you could go to different websites and read bike descriptions and look at the styles. It all depends on your experience and what you want to use the bike for.
Try.

Well first you must decide what type of riding you prefer. The question is what are the different types…okay, there are large bikes that are especially designed and equipped for Touring (long distance trips), then there are the Cruisers (which is my preference) those are designed for medium distance travel and just general all-around riding fun, then there are the Sport bikes which are racer oriented design for shot blast trips but not at all comfortable for a long for even a long Sunday ride. My suggestion to you is since this is your first street bike get something in the 750 cruiser class, such as a 750 Honda Shadow, low maintance, forgiving, easy to handle and comfortable, plus a good looking crusier. Good Luck and welcome to being a rider.
sit down and think hard about it and figure out what you want a bike for?
How far are you planning to ride, how fast? what type of bikes do ur friends own? whats the condition of the roads in ur area? you want the wind in ur face, or do you want the headwind blocked? is being comfortable important? how much are you planning on spending for a bike? you want a bike that has good gas mileage? you want a reliable bike? a bike that requires less maintenance? a bike thats easy to ride, or hard to ride? you planning on riding in the rain? how many miles per year you planning on riding a bike?
Answer all those questions and I and others will pick out the perfect bike for you.
