Whats the device called on mountain bikes that prevents the chain from coming out of the chain ring?

No I’m not talking about the derailleur. I’m talking about that device that you see on mostly DH bikes near the front chain ring.

    I’m thinking you are referring to either a Chain tensioner or a Chain guide.

    you’re looking for a chain guide. i use the e-thirteen srs on my heckler and an mrp on my demo, they both come with bashguards and they work great. in order to install either one, though, you have to make sure that your bottom bracket can accommodate it.
